Professor Dr. Almagir Habib joins at UAP CE Dept

 

Eminent educationist and researcher, Dr. Alamgir Habib joined at the department of Civil Engineering of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) as Professor and Head of the department on February 1, 2015.

Dr. Habib has a remarkable record of serving the department of Civil Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) for more than 4 decades where he had important positions of Dean, faculty and Head of EC department and Provost of Nazrul Islam hall.

Dr. Habib has taught in many reputed Universities at home and abroad including BUET, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Dhaka, Universiti Pertanian UPM, Malaysia, Mosul University, Iraq and a number of private Universities in Bangladesh.

Apart from his glorious teaching career, Dr. Habib has also served as Consultant to many important national construction projects like 'Bangabandhu Novotheatre (Planetarium), Inland Container depot of the Chittagong Port Authority, 650 m Dharala Bridge at kurigram, 'Jetty 1-6, Chittagong, Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge etc.

With a specialization in the fields of structural engineering, Dr. Habib's research interests are properties of brick aggregate, Analysis and Design of Concrete Shells, Numerical Methods and Application of Computer in Structural Analysis, Low-Cost-low-rise housing, 'Buckling of Ferro Cement Shells, 'Segmental Cantilever Construction of Concrete Bridges, 'Torsion of Reinforced Concrete Members,' ' High Performance Concrete and Polymer Concrete. Hr. Habib's research works have been published in reputed national and international journals.

Dr. Habib obtained his PhD and M.Engg. Degrees from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He is a Fellow Member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS).
